Birth Doula NI
My journey into the world of birth work began over 12 years ago when I attended my first birth as an Interpreter.
Witnessing the strength and resilience of the mothers and their families and being a part of such emotional life changing experiences sparked a deep passion within me to pursue a career in this field. I have then qualified as a Birth Doula and Maternity Care Assistant. Due to the nature of the interpreting job and working as a Birth Doula I have supported over 200 families through their pregnancy, birth, and early postpartum journeys.
I am a compassionate, knowledgeable, and supportive presence during the childbirth journey therefore I provide emotional support and reassurance. My philosophy centres around empowering the mother and her partner through education, emotional and physical support, and advocacy, ensuring a positive and personalized birth experience. I work collaboratively with medical professionals and provide continuous care from pregnancy through postpartum.
I possess extensive knowledge about childbirth, including the physiological and emotional aspects. Continuous education and training are essential for me to stay updated with the latest practices and techniques.
I always remain calm in stressful or unexpected situations. Patience is key, as labour can be a lengthy process requiring enduring support.
I am able to clearly convey information and understand the needs and preferences of the mother and her partner and family.
I also believe that respecting the choices and preferences of the family is crucial. I am there to offer unbiased support, regardless of the birth plan or unexpected changes.
Each birthing experience is unique therefore I tailor my support to meet the specific needs, preferences, and circumstances of each family.
I can help in creating a birth plan that aligns with the birthing person's values and desires by providing evidence-based information to help make informed decisions about their care and birth process.
Having worked in the health care system for 12 years I am able to effectively and harmoniously communicate with healthcare providers to ensure a cohesive and supportive birthing environment.
I am on call 24/7 from 10 days before due date
